What is the 2018 WHYS Bluegrass Festival "revisited*"?

'Revisited' is a little nod to Bob and also an indication of reworking, rethinking, and expanding on things that have happened in the past.  We are looking beyond the one day of the festival to connect performers at our event with traditional and non-traditional venues and appearances in the area.  Our goal has always been to support the people who support us and we are trying to do that this year.

What other performances are going to be happening in addition to the August 18th WHYS Bluegrass Festival?

We are working on many things but, to start with, The Georgia Rae Family Band will be appearing at The Waterfront Bar in Menomonie on Thursday August 16, and also at The Mousetrap Tavern in Eau Claire on Friday, August 17, and then of course, Saturday August 18th at Lake Altoona County Park as part of  the WHYS BGF.

We will also have some special post festival festivities that will happen later in the night after the event at different locations and a possible Bluegrass Brunch Sunday, August 19 at the Nine Mile Barn.  Check our the WHYS facebook page for details on this and other things as we get closer to the event.

We have TV appearances scheduled for Thursday August 16 on  "Hello Wisconsin" morning show and again on Friday for the "Hello Wisconsin" morning show as well as the 5:00 news all on Channel 13 WEAU.  We are working with band's scheduling to figure out who will be at each appearance..stay tuned for details.

New to WHYS Radio's Bluegrass Festival? Expect a relaxed lazy day at Lake Altoona County Park. Large shade trees are all around the area, so no need for sunscreen unless you or the kids want to visit the park beach. Be sure to put the free parking pass on your dashboard and, if you like, catch a ride on the Cody Limousines cart to the entrance. Picnic tables are limited so it's helpful to bring your own chairs or a blanket to spread. Brats, hot dogs and other festival fare will be available as well as our famous rice and beans in the club house. Craft beers will be on tap in the pavilion. Kubb sets will be available within earshot of the music, with national and international experts available to show you the game. There will be a kids area and there's also plenty of swings right next to the seating area. Best of all there are loads of talented musicians to enjoy on the main and side stages. If time allows we'll have a large Bluegrass jam to end the evening, so bring an instrument and play along.
